ROCKVILLE, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department has reported the arrest of two teenagers, 18-year-old Samuel Fikru of Silver Spring and a 16-year-old, following an armed carjacking incident in Rockville.

The event occurred on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, around 9:10 PM. Rockville City Police officers were dispatched to Leonard Ct. following reports of an armed carjacking. The investigation by detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division revealed that three suspects accosted the victim while she was parking her 2017 Honda Pilot. Two of the suspects, one armed with a handgun and the other with a knife, approached the driver’s side, while a third suspect went to the passenger side. They demanded the victim drive them to the bank, but she managed to escape, and the suspects fled in her vehicle.

Throughout the investigation, Fikru and the 16-year-old were identified as suspects, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants. Fikru was served the warrant while already detained at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges. The 16-year-old, charged as an adult, was served the warrant following his arrest for a separate strong-arm robbery committed on December 12, 2023. He is currently being held without bond.

Detectives are continuing their efforts to locate the third suspect involved in this incident. This case underscores the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces with carjackings and armed robberies, and the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in such investigations.
