VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Virginia Beach Police Department has issued a public appeal for assistance in the unsolved homicide of Gabriel Martinez, a 24-year-old active-duty Navy servicemember. Martinez’s body was discovered on December 3, 2022, in the 5800 block of Pickering Street following a fatal shooting.

Martinez attended a Christmas party for work earlier that evening and was last seen leaving the Omega Bar. Witnesses reported potential suspects in the Omega Bar parking lot on the night of the murder.

Despite intensive efforts by detectives, leads in the case have diminished, leaving the investigation at a standstill. The VBPD is now seeking community support to advance the case.

Described as a committed servicemember and cherished family member, Martinez’s death remains a point of unresolved grief for his family and friends. The VBPD emphasizes the importance of any information, no matter its perceived relevance, in potentially solving this case.

The department urges individuals with any knowledge regarding this incident to contact the VBPD Homicide Detectives at 757-385-4101. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Crime Solvers hotline at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or P3Tips.com. The VBPD hopes that public involvement will aid in delivering justice and closure to Martinez’s family.
