CRANFORD, NJ – On December 16th, 2023, the Cranford Police Department received a report of an attempted residential burglary at an address on Munsee Drive.

At approximately 4:53 AM, patrol units swiftly responded to the scene, where they discovered that two individuals, both wearing dark clothing and masks, had removed a window screen and attempted to pry open a first-floor window. However, their efforts were thwarted when the home’s burglary alarm system was activated.

In response to the alarm, the two suspects fled the area without gaining access to the residence. Initial reports suggest that the suspects made their escape in a dark-colored SUV. Notably, there were two high-end SUVs parked on the victim’s property at the time of the attempted burglary.

In light of this incident, residents are strongly encouraged to remain vigilant by ensuring that their vehicles are securely locked and that their homes are properly secured, especially during overnight hours. Additionally, it is advisable to verify the functionality of home security cameras.

If residents encounter any suspicious activity, they are urged to contact the Cranford Police Department at 908-272-2222.
