Philadelphia Repeat Child Sex Offender Gets Additional 25-50 Years in Prison

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Michael Flynn, a 67-year-old Philadelphia resident and previously convicted child sex offender, has been sentenced to an additional 25 to 50 years in prison. This sentence, passed down on Friday, follows his recent conviction for attempting to sexually assault a child, who was, in reality, an undercover law enforcement officer.

Flynn, who had already served 40 years for previous sexual offenses involving both children and adults in the 1970s, was found guilty by a Philadelphia jury in July.

His charges included unlawful contact with a minor, criminal solicitation to commit statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and criminal use of a communication facility.

The undercover operation, led by the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section, revealed Flynn’s intent to engage in sexual activities with a supposed 14-year-old.

Flynn was unaware that his communications were with a Special Agent posing as a minor. His online interactions included explicit sexual conversations, and he offered $150 to meet the “child” for sexual acts.
