ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Governor Wes Moore of Maryland announced on Wednesday his optimism regarding the finalization of a new lease agreement with the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. With the end-of-year deadline fast approaching, the Governor indicated that a deal is “imminent.”

This announcement came during a press briefing following a meeting of the state’s Board of Public Works, which is required to approve any final agreement. Governor Moore, who chairs the three-member board, mentioned ongoing negotiations that continued over the weekend and the week. He expressed confidence in reaching a satisfactory agreement with all involved parties.

The discussion of the lease agreement follows the administration’s response to concerns raised by the state Senate president about the proposed deal. While Wednesday’s meeting was the last scheduled for the year, Governor Moore clarified that it was the last regular meeting, leaving open the possibility of convening an additional session to approve the new lease before year’s end.
