CHICAGO, IL – December 15 – The Quaker Oats Company has initiated a recall for select granola bars and cereals due to potential Salmonella contamination. Salmonella is known to cause serious health issues, particularly in vulnerable individuals such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

These products were sold nationwide, including in New York and New Jersey.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection typically include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In severe cases, the infection can lead to more critical illnesses like arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.

The recall affects products distributed across the United States, including Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan. Consumers are advised to check their pantries for the implicated products and either dispose of them or contact Quaker for reimbursement. The affected products’ specific details are available on the Quaker website and through their consumer relations hotline.

As of the announcement date, there have been no confirmed illness reports linked to the recalled products. Quaker Oats has reported the recall to the FDA and emphasizes that this recall is limited to the specified products, with no other Quaker items affected.
