TRENTON, NJ – The New Jersey Senate has passed a bill sponsored by Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco, requiring the Department of Transportation (DOT) to include pothole information in their annual report to the Legislature.

The legislation, S-2491, spearheaded by Senator Bucco, aims to enhance road safety and provide greater transparency in New Jersey’s transportation infrastructure. It mandates the DOT to report on pothole repairs, their costs, and the number of pothole damage claims made by commuters on state roadways. Additionally, it instructs the DOT to perform a lifecycle analysis in collaboration with the Division of Risk Management.

Senator Bucco emphasized that this data will allow for targeted solutions to improve road conditions in New Jersey, which ranks poorly in pothole prevalence. The bill also ensures that all pothole repair and damage information is accessible to the public.
