QUEENS COUNTY, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the indictment of Reginald Nash on a series of charges stemming from a fatal collision on the Long Island Expressway last month. The grand jury charged Nash with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, and driving under the influence, among other offenses.

The high-speed, three-car crash resulted in the death of one passenger and left two others with serious injuries. District Attorney Katz emphasized the dangers of driving under the influence and speeding, noting that such reckless behavior often leads to tragedy.

Nash, 24, of Roosevelt, faces a 15-count indictment, including manslaughter, vehicular assault, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle with a tinted window below the legal threshold. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.

The incident, occurring on November 19 at around 4:30 a.m., involved Nash’s 2021 Honda Accord colliding with a highway barrier, causing a chain reaction with two other vehicles. A passenger in Nash’s car, 23-year-old Cameron Mency, was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead. Two other passengers sustained severe injuries, including Nash’s fiancée, who is now unable to walk.

Investigations revealed Nash’s blood alcohol content was .12 percent, surpassing the legal limit. The vehicle’s black box indicated a speed of approximately 89 miles per hour before the collision, with no evidence of braking.
