ORMOND BEACH, FL – A crash on southbound I-95 today at around 11:45 a.m. led to an extraordinary effort by first responders to save Christmas for a family involved in the accident. Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VSO) deputies and City of Ormond Beach firefighters responded to the scene where a vehicle had veered off the road, struck a pole, rolled over, and landed in a three-foot-deep ditch.

The vehicle, with a woman and three young children inside, the oldest approximately 5 years old, was significantly damaged. Remarkably, all occupants sustained only minor injuries and were assisted out of the vehicle by bystanders prior to the arrival of first responders.

In an act of compassion, the crew of Q93 went beyond their call of duty. They used a ladder to reach the submerged vehicle, managing to retrieve most of the children’s Christmas gifts. A human chain was formed by the firefighters and deputies to transport the gifts to dry land.

The deputies then took an extra step, transporting the salvaged gifts to the VSO office. There, the gifts were sorted, dried, and supplemented with additional donated items. These gifts were later delivered to the hospital for the children, ensuring that the holiday spirit was preserved despite the unfortunate incident.
