NEW YORK CITY, NY — An incident involving verbal harassment on an ice rink in Midtown Manhattan is under investigation, following a report by a local rabbi. The rabbi, identified as Shmuley Boteach, was skating when an individual approached him, allegedly shouting “Free Palestine” and accusing him of supporting “genocide and apartheid.”

According to Rabbi Shmuley, the confrontation occurred while he was on the ice, and the individual’s aggressive behavior posed a safety risk. The rabbi also noted that the individual specifically targeted him due to his Jewish identity and his perceived political views on Israel.

Rabbi Shmuley is a renowned author.

The New York City Police Department is currently reviewing the situation. They have not yet identified the individual involved or made any arrests. The case highlights ongoing concerns about anti-Semitic incidents in the city.

This event adds to the growing number of reported anti-Semitic incidents in the United States, particularly in New York City. The Anti-Defamation League and other organizations have documented a rise in such incidents in recent years.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. The NYPD is also increasing patrols in the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of all community members.
