Victim in Fatal Pedestrian Accident Identified as 70-Year-Old Rockville Woman

ROCKVILLE, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, near Veirs Mill Road and Atlantic Avenue.

At approximately 6:50 p.m., Rockville City Police officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to reports of a pedestrian collision in the area. The investigation revealed that an adult female was crossing Veirs Mill Road at Atlantic Avenue when she was hit by two vehicles, a Toyota Supra and a Toyota Prius, both traveling eastbound on Veirs Mill Road.

The drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene following the accident. Despite efforts to save her, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the location. The victim has been identified as 70-year-old Teresa Moreno De Mejia, a resident of Rockville.


Initial inquiries into a possible involvement of a third vehicle have been concluded, with detectives determining that the pedestrian was struck only by the Toyota Supra and Toyota Prius.

The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing as detectives work to understand the full circumstances of the collision.
