EW YORK CITY, NY – Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City addressed security concerns for the upcoming Center Christmas tree lighting and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade at a Tuesday news conference. Given the high-profile nature of these events, the city is taking extensive measures to ensure public safety.

“There’s always a concern for security at events like these,” the mayor stated, acknowledging the potential risks associated with large public gatherings.

To mitigate these risks, the New York Police Department (NYPD) is deploying a substantial number of officers. The force will include both uniformed and plainclothes personnel, strategically positioned throughout the event areas.

In addition to manpower, the NYPD will employ a variety of technological tools and strategies. This arsenal includes robots, drones, and bomb-sniffing dogs, as outlined by former deputy commissioner Richard Esposito in an interview with CBS New York.

The primary focus of these measures is to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for attendees. Authorities are also mindful of balancing security needs with the rights to protest and free speech. The aim is to prevent any disruptions that could interfere with the public’s enjoyment of these iconic events.

Adams gave a stern warning to those who wish to disrupt or cause harm during the city’s annual celebration.

On Christmas, protesters blocked access to NYC and New Jersey airports and caused disturbances throughout the tri-state region. It is expected that the groups affiliated with the far-left agitators and pro-Palestinian protesters are planning similar disruptions on New Year’s Eve.
