FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick Police Department reported a significant breakthrough in a series of burglary incidents on Thomas Johnson Drive. The arrest followed a prompt response by officers from the FPD’s Patrol Squad E to a reported burglary on December 28, 2023.

An employee monitoring real-time surveillance footage spotted an individual attempting to pry open the front door of an establishment. Matthew Watkins Bagby, a 38-year-old resident of Frederick, MD, was quickly detained at the scene. He was positively identified by the witness and subsequently taken to the Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division for questioning.

Investigations revealed that Mr. Bagby is suspected of having committed two prior burglaries at the same location on December 6 and December 9, 2023. Following his detention, he was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. He now faces multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree burglary and possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia.
