NORTH TONAWANDA, NY – The North Tonawanda Police Department responded to a reported threat at the Tops store on Meadow Drive on December 28 at about 7 PM. The threat, received by the Niagara County dispatch center, involved an unidentified male threatening to shoot people at the location. The caller utilized a voice disguiser, complicating immediate tracing of the call.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials conducted a thorough sweep of the premises. After a complete search, they concluded that there was no credible threat present. Employees and customers inside the store at the time of the incident were safely escorted to their vehicles following the resolution.

The North Tonawanda Police Department has declared this an ongoing investigation. They continue to examine the details surrounding the incident and the origin of the threatening call.

The incident comes nearly two years after a gunman opened fire killing multiple victims at a Buffalo Tops in 2022.
