Trans Activist Murdered During Dispute in Bel Air

BEL AIR, MD — A confrontation in the parking lot of English Country Manner condominiums escalated to a fatal shooting on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of 57-year-old transgender activist Meghan Riley Lewis. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 27 in the 600 block of Churchill Road, Bel Air.

Bel Air Police Department officials reported that Lewis and 47-year-old Brian Michal Delen were involved in a dispute during which Delen allegedly shot Lewis in the abdomen. At the time of the altercation, Delen was delivering food to the building.

Despite immediate treatment by paramedics, Lewis succumbed to her injuries less than an hour later at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

Delen was apprehended without further conflict and faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
