HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Hackettstown, a town known for its longstanding association with the Mars Company, celebrated the arrival of 2024 in a unique fashion. A 40-inch M&M, adorned with over a thousand LED lights, was the centerpiece of their New Year’s Eve celebration. The brightly lit candy replica was lowered from a fire department truck ladder as the clock struck midnight, marking the beginning of the new year.

The Warren County town, home to a Mars facility since 1958, has been a production site for the iconic M&M candies. This year’s celebration highlighted the town’s proud connection to the Mars Company and its famous melt-in-your-mouth, not-in-your-hand chocolates.

The event attracted more than 10,000 spectators, who gathered to witness the inaugural M&M drop. This festive and candy-themed celebration adds a unique twist to the traditional New Year’s Eve ball drop seen in many other cities. It stands as a testament to Hackettstown’s rich history with the Mars Company and its role in the production of one of America’s favorite candies. The successful event indicates a hopeful and cheerful start to 2024 for the residents and visitors of Hackettstown.
