Thieves Take Advantage of Faulty Lock at Closed Monmouth County WAWA

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – At 2 a.m., Wall Police received a report about an unstaffed Wawa store located at the intersection of Highway 35 and Lakewood Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a note on the store’s door indicating closure from 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until 6 a.m. New Year’s Day. Wawa management acknowledged the incident as an oversight caused by a malfunctioning lock.

Surveillance footage revealed individuals entering the store and taking items without payment during the absence of employees.

Wall Police are actively working to identify these individuals. Detective Ty Hughes is leading the investigation and encourages anyone involved or with information about the incident to contact him at 732-449-4500.
