BALTIMORE, MD — On Jan. 4, detectives noticed an unattended car with Pennsylvania plates at the Marathon Gas Station in the Northwestern District around 4 a.m. The car had an almost-empty liquor bottle inside.

As detectives were checking the vehicle’s tags, they saw the driver flee the area. Further inspection revealed an upper receiver of an AR-15 style rifle in the back seat.

A more thorough search uncovered a full lower rifle receiver with an obliterated serial number and a loaded magazine with 31 .223 rounds.
