Prince George’s County Man Wins $50,000 for Kids’ Education

LANHAM, MD – A father of five from a small town near Lanham, Maryland, has won a $50,000 top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s $50,000 Cash scratch-off game. The win comes as a boon for the family, with plans to channel the funds towards their children’s college education.

The lucky player, who has a habit of playing scratch-offs immediately upon purchase, was taken aback by his significant win at a local store. His winning $20 scratch-off was bought from Kentland Shell, a Hyattsville-based retailer located at 7777 Landover Road. Preferring gas station outlets for their convenience, the winner combines his errands with his lottery participation.

This is not the first time luck has favored the Prince George’s County resident. A few years earlier, he won $10,000, which he similarly allocated for his children’s future education. In recognition of selling the top-prize winning ticket, the Lottery will award Kentland Shell a $500 bonus, equating to 1% of the prize value.
