SNN Weather Center

PARSIPPANY, NJ – In anticipation of a snowstorm expected on Saturday, Parsippany officials have issued important guidelines for residents regarding parking and snow removal.

Residents are reminded that parking on snow-covered public streets is prohibited. Vehicles found parked on the street during the snowstorm risk being ticketed and towed, as outlined in Local Ordinance 405-10. This measure is essential to ensure efficient snow clearing and emergency access.

Additionally, the community is responsible for clearing sidewalks, handicap parking spots, and the area around fire hydrants on their property.

This task must be completed within 24 hours of the storm’s cessation, in compliance with Local Ordinance 346-1. The ordinance also mandates the removal of snow and ice from vehicles before driving. Failing to do so can result in fines ranging from $500 to $1500 per violation.

The severity of snowstorms can vary, and residents are advised to stay updated with local weather stations or the US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly for accurate storm totals.
