Leonia Braces for Winter Storm Finn; Flood Watch and Wind Advisory in Effect

LEONIA, NJ – The Leonia Police Department issued an alert today regarding Winter Storm Finn, expected to impact the region starting Tuesday, January 9th, and concluding on Wednesday, January 10th. Contrary to typical winter storms, Finn will not bring snow due to high temperatures. Instead, residents should prepare for hazardous conditions caused by rain and wind.

Authorities have issued a flood watch effective from Tuesday at 6 PM until Wednesday at 6 PM. Forecasts predict heavy rain, ranging from 2 to 3 inches, with possibilities of localized higher amounts. Concurrently, a wind advisory will be in effect from Tuesday at 6 PM to Wednesday at 6 AM, with wind speeds anticipated between 20 to 30 mph and gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph.

Residents are advised to prepare for the impending storm. In cases of immediate danger or hazards, the Leonia Police Department urges citizens to dial 9-1-1. For non-emergency situations, the Police Department can be reached at (201) 944-0800. The Leonia Department of Public Works (DPW) is available at (201) 592-5790 between 7 AM and 3 PM on weekdays. For after-hours emergencies, contact the Leonia Police Department to reach the DPW.
