Brooklyn Man Sentenced for Deli Shooting

BROOKLYN, NY – Marcus Worrell, 28, of East New York, Brooklyn, has been sentenced to 25 years to life for a deadly shooting at a deli in East New York.

On June 5, 2020, Worrell entered a deli at 620 Livonia Avenue and fatally shot Evon Hillman, 28.

A second man, aged 40, was severely wounded. The Brooklyn District Attorney stated that Worrell displayed “complete indifference to human life” during the incident.


Worrell, convicted of second-degree murder, attempted murder, and weapon possession, was sentenced on Monday by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Donald Leo.

He was apprehended on August 5, 2020, by the New York City Police Department after robbing a man at gunpoint.
