DUMONT, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the escalation of charges in an ongoing sexual assault case in Dumont. The investigation, led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit under Chief Jason Love and the Dumont Police Department under Chief Brian Joyce, has resulted in additional charges against the accused.

Previously, on June 27, 2023, the Dumont Police Department reported a case of alleged sexual assault of a child to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. The subsequent investigation revealed that Coswayne R. Donald sexually assaulted a child between the ages of 13 and 16 in Dumont.

Donald was arrested on June 28, 2023, and faced initial charges including three counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree sexual contact. He was initially detained at the Bergen County Jail, then placed on home detention pending trial.

Further investigation, culminating on January 5, uncovered that Donald used his cellular phone to produce and possess materials depicting nude and sexually explicit pubescent children.

Consequently, Donald faces additional charges of first-degree and second-degree production of child pornography, and third-degree possession of child pornography. Following these revelations, he was rearrested in Dumont, and is currently held at the Bergen County Jail awaiting his initial appearance in the Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
