HYATTSVILLE, MD – Francisco Chevez-Ramirez, 24, of Hyattsville, has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting independent taxi drivers in the Edmonston area and unincorporated Hyattsville, between January 4 and January 10, 2024.

Division I detectives of the Hyattsville Police Department, through their investigation, discovered that Chevez-Ramirez posed as a customer to lure the victims. He would then brandish a weapon to demand money and property. In one incident, he assaulted a driver and forced them to withdraw additional cash from an ATM.

Following the identification of Chevez-Ramirez as the primary suspect, investigators obtained and executed an arrest warrant and a residential search warrant on January 10, 2024. During the arrest at his home, he was found in possession of a replica firearm matching the description given in the robberies. Additional evidence linking him to the crimes was also recovered. Chevez-Ramirez has confessed to his involvement in all the incidents.

He faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault, armed robbery, and firearms offenses, and is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. The Hyattsville Police Department urges potential victims who have not yet reported to contact Division I Hyattsville investigators at 301-699-2601.
