Couple Spotted Stealing Cell Phone from Car in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is appealing to the public for help in identifying two suspects involved in a theft from an auto incident that occurred on January 10, 2024.

The incident took place around 1:55 PM in the area of the 100 block of Roseville Avenue and 7th Avenue. Surveillance footage captured a Black male suspect reaching into a victim’s vehicle and stealing a cell phone. A Black female suspect was seen accompanying him. The pair were last seen heading southbound on Roseville Avenue towards Orange Street.

The male suspect was noted for wearing a black, purple, and white Baltimore Ravens beanie hat, a purple and white varsity jacket, gray sweatpants, and black sneakers. The female suspect was distinguishable by her pink hair and was attired in a light gray jacket, a gray scarf, gray pants, and black, blue, and red Nike Jordan sneakers.
