North Jersey Drug Supplier Heading to Prison for Dealing Deadly Dose of Fentanyl

PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP, NJ – David Pezak, a 35-year-old former resident of Saddle Brook in Bergen County, has been sentenced for his role in a fatal drug overdose. Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, along with Chief of Detectives Robert McNally and Pequannock Police Chief Daniel Comune, announced the sentencing on Friday.

On Friday, December 13, 2023, Pezak pled guilty to first-degree Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death and third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

He received a 10-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison under the No Early Release Act, concurrent with a 5-year term with 2 years parole ineligibility for Possession of CDS.


The case stems from an incident on Monday, November 15, 2021. Law enforcement officials responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive woman in Pequannock Township. The victim, identified as A.C., was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death, as determined by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office, was intoxication from a combination of Fentanyl, Amphetamine, Carisoprodol, and Clonazepam.

Investigations implicated Pezak in conspiring to distribute narcotics to A.C. on the day of her death in Paterson. His charges included first-degree Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death, third-degree Conspiracy to Distribute and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
