School Crossing Guard Brutally Assaulted in Bronx

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is seeking public assistance to identify a person and vehicle involved in an assault on a school crossing guard. The incident occurred in the Bronx, within the 49th Precinct’s jurisdiction.

On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at around 3:25 PM, near Maran Place and White Plains Road, a 42-year-old male school crossing guard was involved in a verbal altercation with an unidentified male. The confrontation escalated when the assailant struck the victim multiple times on the head, resulting in minor injuries. Following the assault, the attacker fled the scene in a black vehicle. The victim was subsequently transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and hat, both with white lettering. The NYPD urges anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle to come forward to assist in the investigation.
