Armed Confrontation Leads to Police Shooting in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Virginia Beach Police Department officers were involved in a shooting incident on January 12 at 7:04 PM on the 1300 block of Riverfront Court. Officers responded to a 911 call regarding a dispute. Upon arriving and announcing their presence, they were confronted by an armed man.

The confrontation led to two officers discharging their firearms, injuring the man, later identified as Brian Besecker, 32, of Riverfront Court. Besecker received immediate medical attention from the officers and was then transported to a hospital by emergency services, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Besecker faces charges including three counts of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and one count of Domestic Assault. Further charges are anticipated. The officers involved were unharmed and are now on Administrative Leave, following standard protocol.
