Elderly Man Dead After Being Pinned Under Car in Parking Lot Mishap at South Jersey Rehab Center

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ – On Saturday, January 13, 2024, at approximately 2:01 PM, a tragic pedestrian motor vehicle accident occurred at Bacharach Rehabilitation, located at 61 W. Jimmie Leeds Road. The Galloway Township Police Department responded to the scene.

The incident involved James McNeal, 82, of Absecon, who was driving a 2021 Grey Nissan SUV. As McNeal was pulling into a parking space, he accelerated, causing his vehicle to strike a 2015 Red Hyundai Tucson, and then Joseph C. Zadroga, 76, of Little Egg Harbor, who was standing beside his parked Hyundai.

Zadroga was subsequently pinned underneath the Nissan.


Emergency responders at the scene performed life-saving measures. Zadroga was then transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Galloway Township Police continue their investigation into this accident. The incident highlights the critical importance of vehicle safety, especially in parking areas.
