Another Snow Storm Heading for the New Jersey Shore, But Will it Live Up to Media Hype?

Toms River, NJ – Residents along the Jersey Shore are advised to prepare for a series of weather events, starting today with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 36 degrees. The West wind will blow at around 5 mph, accompanied by gusts reaching up to 20 mph.

Tonight, the area faces a 30% chance of snow after 3 a.m., with cloudy conditions persisting and a low temperature around 28 degrees. Winds from the Southwest will be gentle at around 5 mph but will calm down later. Snow accumulation, if any, is expected to be less than half an inch.

The weather takes a turn on Friday, with snow anticipated before 10 a.m., followed by a mix of rain and snow between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., then shifting back to snow post 1 p.m. The high is expected to be near 35 degrees, with a Northeast wind blowing at 5 to 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is pegged at 100%, with new snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.


Friday night will likely continue to see snow, mainly before 10 p.m. The sky is expected to clear partially, leading to a low around 16 degrees. A Northwest wind will blow at 10 to 15 mph. The chance of snowfall is 60%, with less than an inch of new accumulation likely.

Saturday forecasts partly sunny skies with a high near 27 degrees. It will be blustery, with a Northwest wind blowing at 15 to 20 mph and gusts possibly reaching up to 35 mph.

Residents should be aware of the possibility of minor coastal flooding on Friday. Snow and/or sleet accumulation may significantly disrupt travel. A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST Friday. Expected snow accumulations range from 2 to 5 inches, with higher amounts inland. The advisory covers parts of northern Delaware, southern New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania. Slippery road conditions are likely, and these hazardous conditions could impact both the morning and evening commutes. Temperatures are forecasted to drop rapidly into the teens late Friday night, turning any untreated roads icy and dangerous.
