Brooklyn, NY – The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office announced today the arraignment of Abraham Kentish, 27, on multiple charges including attempted murder and assault. The arraignment follows a series of violent attacks in Brooklyn, where three men were stabbed while asleep.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez described the events as a “horrific spree of violence.” According to Gonzalez, the defendant targeted innocent and vulnerable individuals, demonstrating a blatant disregard for human life.
Kentish, formerly a resident of the SUS Shelter in East New York, Brooklyn, faces three counts of second-degree attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault, and other related charges. He was arraigned before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Matthew Sciarrino and is being held without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 7, 2024.
The attacks occurred on November 12, 2023, at the SUS Shelter and the New Lots Avenue subway station. The first two victims, aged 70 and 38, were stabbed multiple times while sleeping at the shelter. A third victim, aged 32, was stabbed in the neck while asleep on a subway car. All victims were taken to Brookdale Hospital for treatment.
Kentish was apprehended by New York City Police officers after matching the description of the suspect. The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office is now focused on bringing the defendant to justice for these unprovoked attacks.
