Northern York County Regional Police Department Welcomes Six New Officers

The Northern York County Regional Police Department proudly announced the addition of six new police officers to their ranks, sworn in on January 16, 2024, during the Northern York County Regional Police Commission meeting.

These officers, all recent graduates from the Harrisburg Area Community College Police Academy on December 21, 2023, bring a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to the department:

  1. Alyssa Stitt, 22, from East Brady, PA, is a Karns City High School alumna and graduated from Clarion University in May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
  2. Jacob Yoder, 24, from Huntingdon, PA, completed his education at Mifflin County High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Bloomsburg University in December 2022.
  3. Kevin Smith, 31, from Hazleton, PA, a Hazleton High School graduate, served in the US Army for ten years, bringing significant experience to his new role.
  4. Jared Weyandt, 22, from Reading, PA, is an alumnus of Exeter Township Senior High School and attended Wilkes University before joining the academy.
  5. Kaleb Crean, 21, from York, PA, graduated from Eastern York High School and attended Stevenson University prior to his police training.
  6. James Nguyen, 21, from Mechanicsburg, PA, a Mechanicsburg High School graduate, studied at Harrisburg Area Community College before entering the academy.
