Unstoppable: Teacher of Year from Toms River Throws $1,000 Football Pass

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Christine Girtain, the 2022 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year from Toms River, secured $1,000 for her classes at a national convention for state teachers of the year. Girtain, among 18 others, successfully completed a football throwing challenge, setting a record for the National State Teacher of the Year (NSTOY) cohort.

The funds will support the authentic science research (ASR) students at High School North and High School South in Toms River. Girtain’s achievement at the convention demonstrates her diverse skill set contributing to the advancement of her students’ education.
