Are Jackson Schools Closed Friday? District Says Yes

JACKSON, NJ – The Jackson School District has announced a closure for all its schools on Friday, January 19, 2024, due to a forecasted snowstorm.

The decision comes in response to predictions of unsafe travel conditions during the school dismissal period. The impending storm, expected to intensify by the afternoon, poses a significant risk, especially for elementary students. District officials stated that the storm’s timing eliminates the possibility of a safe early dismissal.

Acknowledging the inconvenience this may cause, JSD officials emphasized the decision prioritizes the safety of students and staff. The announcement, made in advance, aims to provide families and staff ample time to arrange alternative plans.

The district also reminded that all transportation services, including buses to district schools, Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) Academies and Programs, and out-of-district special education schools, will not operate.

Furthermore, all scheduled activities, including practices, games, and events hosted by in-district and external organizations, are canceled for the day.
