Orlando, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg has announced the guilty plea of Robert Lee Pringle, 35, from Orlando, for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Pringle now faces up to 10 years in federal prison, with the sentencing date yet to be determined.

Court documents reveal that on May 3, 2022, when law enforcement attempted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle driven by Pringle, he chose to flee at high speed, eventually crashing into another vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered two firearms on the front passenger floorboard, a pistol magazine on the driver’s side floorboard, and a backpack containing items linked to Pringle. These items included paperwork, prescription bottles with his name, suspected narcotics, digital scales, baggies, and 9mm bullets.

Pringle’s criminal history includes multiple prior felony convictions. These include charges such as carrying a concealed firearm, robbery, burglary of a conveyance, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft third degree, and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer at high speed or with wanton disregard. Federal law prohibits Pringle, as a multi-convicted felon, from possessing any firearms or ammunition.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, in conjunction with the Orlando Police Department, conducted the investigation leading to Pringle’s guilty plea. Assistant United States Attorney Megan Testerman is responsible for the prosecution.
