PROVIDENCE, RI – The first annual coat drive organized by the Rhode Island U.S. Attorney’s Office (RI-USAO) took place on January 18th at Kennedy Plaza in Providence. The event, led by the RI-USAO Diversity Committee, saw the donation of over 75 winter gear items by staff members of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Aimed at serving the Rhode Island community, the coat drive distributed new and used winter coats and gear to those in need. The Diversity Committee members facilitated the distribution. On a cold afternoon, attendees were offered hot chocolate, coffee, and snacks as they browsed through the available coats.

United States Attorney Zachary Cunha participated in the event and expressed pride in his colleagues for their initiative and volunteerism, making the coat drive a success for local residents in need.

The event not only provided warmth through clothing but also offered an opportunity for community members to interact with attorneys and staff from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Many expressed gratitude for the office’s efforts in maintaining safety and administering justice in their communities.
