Albemarle County Police Investigate Series of Package Thefts

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. – The Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) is currently investigating a series of package thefts that have been reported in the Old Ivy Road and Ivy Road areas. The string of thefts has been occurring since November 2023, with several incidents reported to date.

In an effort to address this issue, the ACPD is seeking the community’s help in identifying a suspect linked to at least one of these thefts. The department has released an image of the individual believed to be involved and is asking for assistance in identifying them.

Additionally, residents in the affected areas are being encouraged to review their home security footage. The ACPD hopes that these surveillance systems may have captured instances of package theft, which could be crucial in the investigation. Residents who find relevant footage are urged to report it to the police.

Detective Garrett Moore of the Albemarle County Criminal Investigations Division is leading the investigation. The ACPD requests that anyone with information related to these thefts, or who can identify the suspect, contact Detective Moore at 434-296-5807. Alternatively, information can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000. The ACPD assures that callers may remain anonymous.
