A retiree from Towson, Baltimore County, has started 2024 on a high note by winning a $50,000 prize from a Pick 5 drawing. The fortunate player, a regular participant in the Maryland Lottery, won this substantial amount with a $1 straight bet on a quick-pick ticket.

The winner, who has a routine of buying tickets for both midday and evening Pick 5 drawings, purchased his winning ticket on January 13 at 8 Days a Week Liquor, located at 1700 Taylor Avenue in Parkville. This retailer is among his favorites for Lottery purchases. The next day, as per his usual practice, he checked his ticket online and discovered his big win from the evening drawing. He later visited the retailer to confirm his $50,000 prize, though he has chosen to keep the news of his win private.

The father of three has decided to deposit his winnings in the bank for the time being, giving himself time to think about how best to enjoy his newfound fortune.
