Utica Police Arrest Suspect in December Robbery Case

The Utica Police Department has reported the arrest of 41-year-old Brodice Lawson of Utica in connection with a robbery that occurred on December 22, 2023.

The incident took place on Whitesboro Street, where the victim, while walking to a local store, was followed and harassed by Lawson, an acquaintance. Lawson demanded the victim’s cellphone and cash. Although the victim initially managed to evade Lawson and enter the store, upon exiting, they were physically assaulted by Lawson who then stole their phone and other items purchased from the store. After the assault, Lawson fled the scene, prompting the victim to contact the police.

Following several weeks of investigation, a member of the Utica Police Department’s Warrants Unit located Lawson on January 19, 2024. Lawson has been charged with robbery in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
