12-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with Robbery and Assault in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a surprising development, the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force has announced the arrest of a 12-year-old boy involved in a recent robbery and assault incident in Northwest D.C.

The initial incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, September 21st, around 9:00 p.m. The first victim was standing by his electric bicycle in the 1300 block of Irving Street when he was suddenly attacked from behind by a group of five suspects. The assailants overpowered the victim and seized his electric bicycle.

In a dramatic turn of events, a second victim, who was parking his vehicle nearby, heard the commotion and rushed to help. However, this act of bravery quickly turned perilous when one of the suspects commandeered the second victim’s still-running vehicle. Meanwhile, the remaining suspects assaulted the second victim and stole his car keys. Subsequently, all five suspects fled the scene with the stolen vehicle.


Following an extensive investigation, on January 18th, a 12-year-old male from Northwest D.C. was apprehended under a DC Superior Court custody order. He faces charges of Assault with Intent to Rob and Theft One (Stolen Auto).

This arrest highlights the concerning involvement of very young individuals in serious criminal activities. The case remains under active investigation, and the D.C. Metro Police Department is seeking additional information from the public.
