Lancaster Man Faces Additional Charges in Sexual Assault and Child Pornography Case

LANCASTER, PA – Eric Dorwart, a 54-year-old resident of Pleasure Road in Lancaster, faces new charges following a search warrant executed at his residence on August 15, 2023.

Dorwart, who was already charged in a 1997 cold case sexual assault, now faces multiple charges including photographing and possessing child pornography, rape of a child, and aggravated indecent assault of a child.

Pennsylvania State Police conducted the search, uncovering two laptops and an iPhone with substantial evidence.

The devices contained numerous images consistent with child pornography, including images of Dorwart engaged in sexual contact with minors. The ongoing investigation seeks to identify the victims, believed to be infants cared for by the Dorwart family.

Dorwart’s charges stem from a 1997 sexual assault case where DNA evidence played a crucial role. Investigators matched a DNA profile from trash collected outside Dorwart’s residence to evidence from the 1997 case. Dorwart waived his preliminary hearing on October 17, 2023, and is set to face charges in Lancaster County Court. Pennsylvania State Police ask anyone with information to come forward.
