Police Pursuit Turns Violent as Suspect Fires at Chesapeake Officer

CHESAPEAKE, VA – In a harrowing incident early this morning, a Chesapeake Police Officer was shot at during a traffic stop that escalated into a pursuit. The incident occurred near Greenbrier Parkway and Jarman Road.

The event unfolded at approximately 4:31 AM on January 24, when the officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the specified area. The driver, instead of complying, led the officer on a chase. During the pursuit, as they reached River Birch Run, the suspect opened fire on the officer. Fortunately, the officer was not injured in the shooting.

The suspect managed to evade capture by driving off-road, leading to a loss of visual contact. Police officers are actively on the scene, conducting a search to locate the suspect.
