The Anne Arundel County Police Department has announced the passing of Sergeant Eric R. Trumbauer, badge #1514, who died following an off-duty medical emergency. The department, along with the community, mourns the loss of a dedicated and highly respected member of their force.
Sergeant Trumbauer’s distinguished career began in October 2002 as part of the 60th Recruit Class. Over the years, his commitment to law enforcement and community service was evident through his work in Patrol within the Northern and Southern Districts. His exemplary service led to multiple recognitions, including being named the Northern District Community Relations Committee Officer of the Year, a Baltimore Sun Officer of the Year nominee, and the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce Officer of the Year.
Sergeant Trumbauer’s expertise extended to the Special Operation Division Traffic Safety Section, where he served as a Fatal Crash Investigator for five years. His dedication to impaired driving enforcement was notable, earning him recognition from the state of Maryland as one of the top DUI enforcers 14 times. Furthermore, his skills as a Drug Recognition Expert were acknowledged statewide on three occasions. His exemplary service was also recognized through the awarding of a Silver Star and two Departmental Commendation Awards.
He leaves behind his wife, Kelly, and their daughter, Brooke. The Anne Arundel County Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the Trumbauer family and requests the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
