Fatal Southeast D.C. Shooting Claims Life of 59-Year-Old Man

WASHINGTON, DC – The D.C. Police Metro Department is currently conducting an in-depth investigation into a fatal shooting that happened in Southeast Washington, D.C. The incident took place on Tuesday night.

The sequence of events unfolded around 9 p.m. when the police were alerted to a shooting incident on the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a male individual inside a business, suffering from severe gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts to provide aid, the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Raymond Leon Ballard, a 59-year-old resident of Southeast, D.C. As the investigation intensified, detectives managed to secure footage from a nearby surveillance camera that captured the suspect vehicle. In addition to this crucial piece of evidence, a stock image of the vehicle has also been made available to assist in the ongoing investigation.
