Troopers Thwart Fuel Theft at New Castle Wawa, NJ Man Arrested

NEW CASTLE, DE – Kelvin Giron-Brand, a 34-year-old from Paterson, New Jersey, has been arrested by the Delaware State Police for felony theft of fuel.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon at a New Castle Wawa.

That day, around 3:07 p.m., troopers responded to the Wawa located at 7 E. Commons Boulevard. They apprehended Giron-Brand, who was found using a device attached to a fuel pump to dispense large volumes of diesel fuel at a fraction of its cost.


The device was seized, and over $1,700 worth of fuel was found in Giron-Brand’s possession, for which he paid less than $20.

He faces charges including felony shoplifting, possession of burglar tools, and conspiracy. Giron-Brand was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $14,000 secured bond.
