Glen Burnie Housekeeper Strikes $50K Lottery Win with Holiday Cash Scratch-off

GLEN BURNIE, MD – A remarkable turn of fortune came for a Glen Burnie housekeeper and her boyfriend, as they claimed a $50,000 top prize from a Holiday Cash scratch-off ticket. The Anne Arundel County couple, still in disbelief, visited the Maryland Lottery headquarters on Tuesday, a day after their unexpected win.

The winning journey began when the woman’s boyfriend purchased the instant ticket from a local retailer in Glen Burnie. Initially skeptical, the housekeeper couldn’t believe their luck. “I just kept saying, ‘No,’” she recalls, struggling to accept the reality of their win. The confirmation of their fortune finally came through a Lottery app on her boyfriend’s smartphone.

This winning moment marks a departure from the couple’s usual discussions about lottery tickets. The woman, who often expressed skepticism about her boyfriend’s lottery purchases, had just recently agreed to participate. “Just last week, I finally gave in and told him that if he was going to buy them, to get one for me,” she shared.

The joy of their win is also a boon for Check Cash Depot #026, the retailer at 7560 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, where the ticket was bought. They will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket. With the Holiday Cash scratch-off game introduced in October 2023, four top prizes of $50,000 and five $5,000 second-tier prizes are still waiting to be claimed.
