Human Remains Found in Burned Lakewood Home

Lakewood, NJ – Human remains were found in the debris of a burned home on Chestnut Street, Lakewood police confirmed. The discovery was made following a house fire that occurred Saturday night. Initially, no casualties were reported, but subsequent information revealed that an individual, known to frequent the otherwise unoccupied property, was unaccounted for.

After receiving this information, authorities re-examined the site. A cadaver dog brought to the scene located the remains amidst the ruins.

During the investigation, it was learned that at least one person had been using the vacant house as a makeshift shelter. The fire is believed to have started from a campfire inside the building. The identity of the deceased has not been established, and further details about the incident are currently under investigation.
