Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Upper Marlboro

Capitol Heights, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of 27-year-old Ayanna Myrick from Upper Marlboro.

The incident occurred in the early hours of January 29, at around 3:20 am. Officers from the Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to a call near Central Avenue and the Capital Beltway, where they discovered an unresponsive adult female, later identified as Ms. Myrick, in the roadway. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As per protocol, the Prince George’s County Police Department undertakes investigations of all fatal crashes within the jurisdiction of the Seat Pleasant Police Department.


The initial investigation indicates that the driver, in an as yet unidentified vehicle, was heading westbound on Central Avenue, just before the Capital Beltway. Under circumstances still under investigation, the vehicle struck Myrick. Notably, the driver did not remain at the scene following the incident.

Investigators are focusing their efforts on determining the make and model of the vehicle involved in this tragic accident. The police are appealing to the public for any information related to this case.
