Philadelphia Man Charged for Violent Robbery at Delaware Liquor Store

Newark, DE – A Philadelphia man has been charged with robbery following an incident at a liquor store in Newark. According to Lt. Andrew Rubin, Newark Police responded to Park and Shop Liquors at 245 South Main Street on January 30, 2024, at approximately 11:44 a.m., after receiving a report of a robbery.

Upon arrival, officers were informed by the male clerk that a man entered the business, confronted the clerk while raising his fist, and demanded property. A physical altercation ensued between the clerk and the suspect, eventually moving outside the store. The clerk managed to lock himself back inside, while the suspect fled with personal property belonging to the victim. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries, and no weapons were involved in the incident.

Newark Police officers quickly located the suspect a short distance from the scene and apprehended him without further incident.


The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Joseph Stull from Philadelphia, was transported to Newark Police headquarters. He has been charged with Robbery Second Degree. Stull appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 via video and was ordered to be held in lieu of $2,000 secured bail. He was then transferred to the custody of the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.
