Montgomery County Retiree Wins Big for Grandkids' College Fund

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – A stroke of beginner’s luck led a Gaithersburg retiree to win a $50,000 third-tier prize with the Maryland Lottery’s 200X The Cash game. This marked the player’s first attempt at the lottery’s new scratch-off game, which debuted in stores this past December.

Purchasing the $30 instant ticket from Convenient Beer and Wine on 8441 Snouffer School Road in Gaithersburg, the winner discovered his fortune when he scratched off a “50X” symbol over a $1,000 prize. This win secured him one of the game’s six $50,000 prizes.

The lucky Montgomery County resident, a retired security guard, expressed his excitement over the win and shared his heartfelt plans to use the prize money to support his two grandchildren’s college education.

With the 200X The Cash game, there are still ample opportunities for big wins, including four $2 million prizes, five additional $50,000 prizes, nine $10,000 prizes, and several others ranging from $30 to $5,000. This game is part of the X the Cash series that offers players the chance to multiply their winnings. Additionally, players can enter non-winning X the Cash scratch-offs into the My Lottery Rewards program for a chance at five second-chance drawings, with prizes ranging from $50,000 to $75,000.
